Proyectos Inmediatos/ Next Projects
Estoy preparando una serie de proyectos para los próximos meses. En lo referente a viajes, a finales de Septiembre viajo por primera vez a Myanmar. Será el primero de dos viajes, que tengo planeado realizar a este espectacular país. El primero, cómo he dicho, será a finales de septiembre. Permaneceré casi un mes, coincidiendo con la Fiesta de las Pagodas, en el Lago Inle. Será un viaje más floclórico y turístico de lo habitual, pero igualmente, muy interesante. En cuanto a las kayans ó padaungs (mujeres jirafas), pretendo fotografiarlas en sus auténticos pueblos, en el Estado de Kayan. Aunque está prohibido, al parecer mi contacto allí me ha conseguido un permiso para visitar los poblados más inmediatos. También me interesa mucho fotografiar el universo étnico de la zona de Kyaing Tong.
La segunda parte del viaje comenzará a principios de Enero. Entonces, pretendo contactar con el Myanmar más remoto y tribal, el vetado para el turismo. Quiero retratar a los Naga y a los «Cara de araña», los Chin.
Para mediados de Febrero, tengo previsto regresar a Sur Sudán. El año pasado, la malaria y las lluvias me impidieron llegar a la remota zona del parque Boma, fronteriza con Etiopía. Se trata de un lugar apartado, que conserva una gran pureza en cuanto a vida tribal. Es la tierra de los Jié, Katchipos, Toposas y Nyangatones. Esta vez, iré mejor preparado. Lo fundamental es buenos coches y una buena dosis de paciencia, para conseguir atravesar aquel pegajoso mar de «black cotton»
Por ultimo, espero poder regresar pronto al reducto de la cultura Massai en Loita Hills (Kenia). Estuve allí en Febrero y realicé un buen reportaje, que pretendo completar proximamente. Ya hablaré sobre esto, porque me resultó fascinante.
Otros proyectos viajeros deberán eserar.
En cuanto a exposiciones, tengo intención de intentar preparar una gran exposición sobre el Africa tribal, bajo el Título «Tierra roja, huella negra». El problema, como siempre es el dinero.
También pretendo terminar de una vez mi primera novela – «Oí silbar a las acacias» – y ver si puede ser publicable. La historia se desarrolla en el sur de Etiopía iy tiene, como principales personajes, a un chico surma (Kibu), una joven hamer (Chaltu) y un periodista español (Mario Ferrándiz). Llevo cuatro años con ella, pero ya estoy a punto de terminarla. Veremos…
I am now preparing a number of projects to be accomplished in the next few months. As for travelling, I´m planning to first travel to Myanmar. That will be at the end of September. As a matter of fact, it will be the first part of my trip to this stunning country. As I said, I will be first travelling to Myanmar at the end of September. I will stay there for one month, so that I can make a report of the Pagoda Festival, in Inle Lake, along with the most flockloric and turisty highlights of the Burmaness culture. It appears to be very interesting too. I also want to photograph the kayan or padaung women (known as Giraffes) in their natural enviroment, wich is forbidden Kayan State. It seems my contact there has managed to get a permit, so that I can get as far as the nearest villages in the area. I am very interested in visitting the tribal universe of Kyang Tong region too.
The second part of my trip to Myanmar will be kicking off at the beginning of Jenuary. Then, I intend to contact the remotest and most tribal Myanmar, wich is banned to tourists. I would like to photograph the Naga people there, as well as those known as Spider Faces (Chin people).
It will be by the middle of February, when I am planning to go back to South Sudan. Both Malaria and the rainy season impid me to get to the remote Boma area last year, nearby the natural Ethiopian boundery. It is a very faraway place, which still preserves a very pure and unspoiled style of life. It is the land of Jié, Katchipo, Toposa and Nyangaton people. I will use a much better equipment this time. Good cars a great patience are indeed neccesary if you pretend to cross that huge and sticky ocean of black cotton.
Hopefully, I will soon be returning to the that hidden spot of the pure Massai culture, which is Loita Hills (Kenia). I was there last February and could make an excelent report, I will try to finish in the following months. I will talk about thrilling experience in next future.
Other travelling project will have to wait…
I also intend to desighn a new photographic exhibition about tribal Africa, which is supposed to be titled «Red ground, black footprint». As usual, money appears to be a big issue to sort out.
I am now envolved in finishing my firt novel – «I heard accacias whisle» – I am eager to know whether or not it can e published. Story happens in Southern Ethiopia. The main characters are a surma boy (Kibu), a hamer girl and a Spanish journalist (Mario Ferrándiz). I have been writing for four years now, and I´m about to finish. Let´s see what becomes of it…
